This book won the Best UK Spiritual Book Award in 2020
For something totally unexpected amongst all the doom and gloom of the Covid pandemic in 2020, I was delighted and surprised to find out that my book Between the Immensities had won the Best Spiritual Fiction Book Award in the UK! The judge described it as being “heart warming, funny and engaging’” and said that after reading the book, it inspired him to reconsider his relationship with his parents. (See below)
“It takes the reader on a journey to better understanding and healing interpersonal relationships, particularly those with parents.”
“A thoroughly enjoyable read…it is warm, tender, poignant, funny and informative. I really like the Liverpudlian humour.”

Emotional Life looks at how our emotions can positively or negatively affect many important areas of life such as relationships, health, communication, behaviour, authenticity, goals, philosophy and spirituality, and explains how we can become the master of our own emotions. Combined with teaching skills and strategies using CBT tools for managing emotions, a philosophical thread weaves its way throughout the book, providing an inspirational perspective on the importance of really experiencing our precious gift of life.
Emotional Life explains what emotions are, where they come from, and the ways in which we can enhance the quality of life by managing both our positive and negative emotions.
“…this book provides the reader with tools to become their own therapist. If you are seeking more control over your life and happiness, I am confident that this new book by Dr Doreen Davy – an experienced therapist who practices what she preaches – will contribute significantly to that desirable goal.”
“…the book is engaging, with the right blend of common sense and emotional insight. Because the writing is conversational and honest, the book feels a bit like sitting with an engaging therapist — one who is willing to reveal small pieces of her own life to enrich the conversation.”
A Dandelion by Any Other Name was first published in 1998 by Orca Publishing in Christchurch NZ
In 2001 the rights for the book were bought by Mentor Books in Dublin, Ireland where it was republished with a different cover.
– Review in NZ Listener March 1999 by author Michael Morrissey

“…The characters’ flaws are microscopically examined and the sacred cows of sex, religion and death are merrily slaughtered.”
